"No one really enjoys getting sold," a woman in a legal Nevada brothel told Melissa Farley during the course of this research. "It's like you sign a contract to be raped."

In a two-year research study of Nevada legal and illegal prostitution and sex trafficking, Farley reveals new information about the scope of the sex industry. She describes human rights violations against women in the Nevada legal brothels and how the multibillion-dollar illegal sex industry in Las Vegas works.  She makes connections between legal and illegal prostitution, prostitution and sex trafficking, advertising for prostitution, political corruption, pornography, and organized crime. Farley explains how, although they are out of sight, the johns are ultimately the origin of the problem of sex trafficking—the men who demand the right to rent human beings in prostitution.

What effect does Nevada's prostitution culture have on all women in the state?  A Nevada rape crisis counselor explained, "Men think they can get away with rape here."
